Florida Senator Gwen Margolis is proposing a bill that would allow anyone of legal age to buy lottery tickets online. Her proposal (SB 226) is expected to boost ticket sales in the state if approved.
At present, Florida lotto tickets can only be purchased from among 13,000 authorized retailers. Margolis believes that people will buy more tickets if these are conveniently available on the Internet. She hopes that high sales would translate into more funds for education aid.
